Show Your Political Prowess: It's Debate & Election Party Season!
Honestly, I was way more excited about hosting a Debate Party than I was about hosting a Superbowl Party. I could listen to political commentary all day long and never tire of it. Seriously, what is wrong with me? So when my husband came to me and said "Hey, let's throw a debate party!", he didn't have to ask me twice. Below are some pictures from our debate party set-up and decor! Enjoy, folks...'tis the season!
I found some awesomely funny/sort of creepy faces of Hillary and The Donald at Party City. They were on sticks, but I removed the sticks and added them to my red, white and blue banner. My banner is actually a 4th of July Banner from Paper Source, turned around backwards so you can't read the words. Good idea, right?!?
I basically regurgitated a bunch of my 4th of July gear - including this star-spangled wreath from Pier 1 Imports. I printed out a debate graphic and taped it the center of my front door in the middle of the wreath to welcome our guests.
The icing on our debate party cake had to be this super fun drinking game we found at debatedrinking.com. It was hilarious, and took our debate from a mid-level uptight workplace to college after-hours bar. If you haven't yet heard of or played this game, please check it out. But as a precaution, if you are planning to drive home after playing this game, please take a uber instead.
I added some Republican and Democrat elements to my star spangled decor. I found these red and blue plates and Napkins at Party City, and these awesome cups (or silverware holders in my case) from The Happy Toz Shop on Etsy.
I fell in love with these multipurpose elephant an donkey centerpiece sticks from Swank Crafter on Etsy. Perfect for any floral or balloon centerpiece. I added mine to some blue and white hydrangeas and red roses.
And dessert of course, who could forget?!? I added some red, white and blue pinwheels to some yummy Sprinkles Cupcakes. No matter what side of the aisle you're on, everybody loves a good cupcake.
There are a few more debates coming up, you're up next! Or, maybe you're feeling inclined to host an election night party? Try using some of my debate/election party ideas and don't forget to share them with me. I'd love to see them!
